What You'll Need

4 mm Needles

5.5 mm Needles

100g Worsted Weight Yarn

50g Worsted Weight Yarn ( If you're changing colour) Scroll to bottom to find details of colour change.

Sewing Needles

Make 2

With your 5.5 mm needles cast on 48 sts

Row 1 (WS) K2, P4, K3, P30, K3, P4, K2

Row 2 P2, K4, P3, K30, P3, K4, P2

Row 3 K2, P4, K3, P30, K3, P4, K2

Row 4 P2, C4B, P3, (Sl 3 sts on to a cable needle and hold to the back, K3, K3 sts from cable needle) 5 times, P3, C4F, P2

Row 5 K2, P4, K3, P30, K3, P4, K2

Row 6 P2, K4, P3, K30, P3, K4, P2

Row 7 K2, P4, K3, P30, K3, P4, K2

Row 8 P2, C4B, P3, (Sl 3 sts on to a cable needle and hold to the front, K3, K3 sts from cable needle) 5 times, P3, C4F, P2

Repeat rows 1-8 6 times then row 1 and 2 once more.

Decrease rows

Row 3 Cast off 3 sts, P2, K3, P30, K3, P4, K2

Row 4 Cast off 3 sts, K2, P3, (Sl 3 sts on to a cable needle and hold to the back, K3, K3 sts from cable needle) 5 times, P3, K3

Row 5 Cast off 3 sts, K2, P30, K3, P3

Row 6 Cast off 3 sts, P2, K30, P3

Row 7 Cast off 3 sts, P29, K3

Row 8 Cast off 3 sts, Knit all

Change to 4 mm needles

First row of rib K2tog, K1, *P2, K2, P2. Repeat from* to the last 3 sts, P1, P2tog.

Continue your rib without any decreases until it reaches 20cm or however high you want the rib to be.

Cast off all stitches loosely in rib.

Leave a long tail and fasten off. Place both pieces RS facing eachother and sew along the 3 seams.

Colour changes

If you want to change colours like how I've done with mine I repeated the pattern as follows

Rows 1-8 twice in dark grey

Rows 1-8 three times in light grey

Rows 1-8 twice in dark grey

I then continued in the dark grey to finish the rib
